The free-standing studio was designed to enhance the experience of students attending summer camps, as well as providing the program with facilities to create more comprehensive astronomy activities.
The new domed portion of the studio serving as a planetarium, accommodates up to 30 students. This dome was a challenge to construct requiring precise measurements and numerous cuts. The new studio also includes a room allowing for educators and students alike to study and participate in science.
Astronomy and space-related programs have long been at the core of this Non Profit STEM education program. The STEM Center wished to expand to meet the growing demand for its STEM education summer camp programs for girls, doubling the number of camps it could accommodate. The latest expansion now brings the universe indoors.
