This project was a complete remodel of a condominium unit in a multi-unit mid-ride building in downtown Austin. We designed the remodel to feel more like a custom home upon entering it and less like a condominium. Clean lines, soft earthy colors and subtle details make this renovation a tasteful mix of old and new.
By updating and adding custom built-in shelves and changing out the cabinets with a rich dark wood the space feels warm yet modern with plenty of nooks for books and storage. Lighting above the kitchen cabinetry creates a feeling of height in the room. The island helps define the kitchen and dining room areas, but the great room still feels open and well suited for entertaining. We enriched the flooring throughout the main living area with a darker stain to give the space an earthy vibe. The bedroom was equipped with a space that could be used for a home office or library with build-in shelves providing ample storage. A durable carpet was used in the bedroom that can withstand plenty of traffic. The bathroom was updated with custom cabinets, and wall to wall travertine tile to give the room a spacious appearance. Using lighter materials on the counters and walls allows the room to remain bright yet cozy.
